"Creativity is a vital sign of the heart."

Five fun facts about me

  1. I am a beekeeper. Four bee colonies make for the “pets” in our household, and I am in charge of the local annual beekeepers’ class.
  2. I used to work in Zambia for 6 months and fell in love with African people. Hence the frequent portraits of people of colour.
  3. My last milk tooth still resides in my jaw.
  4. I am on a mission to reduce plastic waste in our household. Over time we went from 3-4 bags of plastic waste per month to one bag in 6 weeks, mainly by shopping differently.
  5. Italy is my favourite vacation destination. Relaxation sets in as soon as I have un café nella piazza.

Besides making art I work as a freelance medical writer, living near Giessen, Germany (greater Frankfurt area), with my family.

"Every artist says something about himself and how he sees the world, whether he wants to or not."

Johannes Hartl

Why the art?

Both in life and in art I am taking an interested, empathic look at human beings, longing to zoom in and look deeply beyond the surface. I aspire to see and show the person’s uniqueness and complexity, their brokenness and vibrancy.

Oils and acrylics, charcoal and collage are my preferred media. I love experimenting with new techniques and materials.
